Relieve Pain and Reduce Inflammation With Cold Plunge Therapy at Tucson Sports Recovery

Cold plunging has become incredibly popular over the past 5-10 years. Cold plunging in the Tucson summer heat is especially appealing. Hack your body and explore the science of cryotherapy to enhance your body's natural healing processes. While we are certainly not the only cold plunge in Tucson, we have by far the most affordable and comprehensive cold plunge program.

Our members not only enjoy unlimited access to our cold plunge, but also get unlimited access to our near infrared saunas, cryo-compression, Normatec compression boots, and our 300 square foot mobility area with over 30 recovery gadgets to keep you feeling your best.

Many use cryotherapy to cause vasoconstriction (the blood vessels constrict or decrease their diameter) to reduce the amount of fluid that leaks out of the capillaries into the tissue spaces (swelling) in response to injury of tissue. Ice or cold is used most frequently in acute injuries but is also an effective pain reliever for even the most chronic pain. Cold therapy can also include using a cold pack or an ice massage.

Cold plunging, or immersing oneself in cold water, has been associated with several mental health benefits. This practice can stimulate the production of endorphins, often referred to as "feel-good" hormones, which help reduce stress and improve mood. The shock of cold water immersion activates the sympathetic nervous system, leading to an increased release of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter that can enhance focus and attention while reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Regular cold plunging can also improve resilience to stress by conditioning the body and mind to handle sudden changes and discomfort. Additionally, it can enhance sleep quality, which is crucial for overall mental health, and foster a sense of accomplishment and mental fortitude, boosting self-esteem and confidence.

Cold Plunge Questions

  • How cold do you keep the cold plunge?

Research has shown that it's easy to go too cold when cold plunging. Ideal temperature is 45-55, so we usually keep it at 50 and clients can digitally adjust the temperature as needed or call ahead to request a specific temperature.

  • How long should I stay in the cold plunge?

Because cold plunging has gotten so popular, there are heaps of misinformation out there. 2-5 minutes is recommended. More is not necessarily better. However, if you want to stay in 10 minutes, we're not going to stop you.

  • Do you have towels to use?

Yes! We have laundry on site and provide towels. We do recommend bringing your own. We only have about 15 towels and if they are all used we have smaller towels that do the trick also.

  • What are the hours of the cold plunge?

Staffed hours are 10am-6pm Monday-Friday and 10am-3pm on Saturdays. Members enjoy access from 5am-9pm 365 days a year!

  • Do I need to bring a swimsuit?

Yes, our cold plunge has a privacy curtain, but you are still required to wear a swimsuit.

  • How much do you charge for cold plunge?

Our unlimited membership, which is truly unlimited, is only $101/mo. Day passes are $35 and you can stay as long as you like and use everything such as near infrared saunas, compression boots and cryo-compression.

  • How is the cold plunge kept clean?

We change the water 4 times a week. Along with frequent water changes, the cold plunge is UV sanitized and has a normal spa filter. We also use a small amount of chlorine.
